CorrPro^® rotary joints come with two color coded seal ring wear labels and the position of the indicator shows the level of seal wear. The position of the indicator is also used to verify the rotary joint is installed correctly. The labels are easy to read but understanding which label to use depends on your roll setup. This is because most rolls have a fixed bearing side and a floating bearing side to allow for thermal expansion. The side of the roll the CorrPro rotary joint is mounted to will determine which wear label to use. Consult your machine drawings or manufacturer to determine your roll mounting.

CorrPro Rotary Joint Mounted to Fixed Bearing Side

The “Cold Roll or Hot Roll without Thermal Expansion” label should be used when the roll is cold and the CorrPro rotary joint is mounted on either side of the roll. It should also be used if the roll is hot and the CorrPro rotary joint is mounted on the fixed bearing side. It is important to note that if you are unable to determine which end of the roll the CorrPro rotary joint is mounted, you can use this label to measure seal ring wear while the roll is cold, regardless of mounting position. This label is also used during CorrPro rotary joint installation to ensure proper setup.

CorrPro Rotary Joint Mounted to Floating Bearing Side

If the CorrPro rotary joint is mounted to the floating bearing side of the roll, the roll will expand with temperature, the wear indicator will also shift, and the “Hot Roll with Thermal Expansion” label should be used.
