Kadant Successfully Starts Up Two Approach Flow Systems for Shanying International

Beijing, China, November 5, 2020 – Kadant Fiberline (China) Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Kadant Inc. (NYSE: KAI), successfully started up two approach flow systems at Shanying International for its PM22 and PM23. Both systems have enabled excellent stock quality and are expected to reduce energy consumption compared to conventional systems.

Shanying uses domestic recovered paper as its furnish on PM22 and PM23. PM22 is a 7.9 meter trim machine producing testliner at 1100 mpm. Kadant Fiberline China’s scope of supply included a Radiclone AM80 system and a machine screening system for top ply and a machine screening system for the testliner base.

PM23 also has a trim width of 7.9 meters and produces corrugated medium at speeds up to 1400 mpm. Kadant Fiberline China’s scope of supply included a Perivac deaerator and a machine screening system for this high-speed machine.

Kadant’s Radiclone AM80 systems are used in applications with a high requirement for pulp and paper cleanliness. The low operating costs in conjunction with the high-performance cleaning capability offer efficient fiber processing for heavy-weight contaminant removal and fractionation. Radiclone AM80 systems are widely used across Shanying’s operations including at the Jingzhou, Haiyan, and Maanshan mills.

The Perivac deaerator is a space-saving, high-performance system for efficient removal of entrained and dissolved air and other gases from paper, board, and tissue stock suspensions. The system is designed to:

  • Improve paper formation and increase paper strength
  • Minimize paper breaks
  • Improve dewatering on the wire section
  • Reduce the use of chemicals and the consumption of defoamer agents

Due to the unique design and its small footprint, the Perivac deaerator can be installed on the upper floor, the mezzanine floor, or outdoors. This compact unit is also known for its low power consumption.

The proven SPK-H screen has been widely used in linerboard paper machines. It features:

  • A pulse-free design
  • Excellent deflocculation
  • Low power consumption

Kadant Fiberline China also provided professional engineering services to ensure stable headbox slice flow and consistency as well as low air content.
